The annual CWA Australia Day Concert and Awards were held on Wednesday January 22 at the Quirindi RSL Club. The day being kicked off with a live performance from the Howie Brothers supported by Wayne Horsburgh and Jill Delaney assuring a great morning of entertainment for the audience. “It’s very good to have it here for the disabled people to get out of Eloura” commented Cherie Choveaux from Quirindi Taxi Service.
The annual CWA Business Awards and Educational grants were presented with the grants total coming to the value of $4000 this year.
Luck award winners were: Australia Day Business Award: Quirindi Veterinary Clinic. CWA Australia Day Award: Quirindi Taxi Service. Vera Cameron Scholarship: Catriona Cox and Georgia Robertson. Annette McCrae Scholarship: Bella Roberts, Yolanda Such and Cooper Brown. Maunder Family Scholarships: Luke Hutton, Zaibaine Effer and Barney Hazelwood. Quirindi Community Nursery Scholarships: Ethan Golledge, Jessica Rowlands, Jacob Fechner and Matthew Nelson.
The branch wishes to acknowledge the ongoing support of Quirindi Arts and Crafts shop and Quirindi Community nursery for funding these awards.
The morning proceeded with a luncheon at the conclusion of the awards for all who attended and another great show by the Howie Brothers and their support members.
A timely reminder that medical grants are open to applicants and close on January 31. Forms are available by contacting Mrs Colleen Wills on 6746 1326. The Namoi group of CWA will be awarding $2000 in medical grants this year.
The branch will be also funding a morning tea at Quirindi Rural Heritage Village on January 23 for children of Quirindi Eastside Childcare Centre.
